Makeup Brush Cleaning: Cheaper Alternatives

I have a crazy amount of makeup brushes (I think I have a problem).  Cleaning all of them at once is definitely a pain, especially for my hands. After a swirling a few wet makeup brushes in the palm of my hands, they start to feel dry and irritated. I looked into mats and gloves sold online specially made for makeup brush cleaning and they are crazy expensive!

I much rather spend that money on gas or even a new high end palette!!!

So I remembered I had an unused mat that I got from target for an iron (the ones you use to iron clothing). It has a funky texture that’s perfect for cleaning makeup brushes and it only costs about $5!

It really works!!!! I use this in replace of my hands, and it’s saved me from dry flaky palms.

I don’t like using makeup cleansing solutions because I don’t like the idea of using chemicals to clean my makeup brushes.Plus they can be expensive and you get a small amount. I much rather use traditional soap and water!

I like to use Gain, it smells nice and really gets the dirt and grim out of my brushes. I’ve tried using Olive oil along with it because I heard about mixing the two to create a nice solution to wash with BUT I preferred the soap alone! The oil made things….well…oily!
I hope this helps! Hope everyone is doing great! Have some tips or tricks? Let me know below 😊
